In January 2019, The Birmingham Civil Rights Institute rescinded its decision to honor civil rights activist, Dr. Angela Davis as a recipient of the Fred Shuttlesworth Human Rights Award. In February 2019, the Birmingham Committee for Truth & Reconciliation, composed of local activists and community leaders decided to come together to bring Dr. Angela Davis home to Birmingham so that she can be properly honored for her work.

We were hired to manage all aspects of public reactions that included tasks such as developing & distributing the official press release for the event, coordinating & managing the press conference, working with all media/press and ensuring that the event received global coverage.

It has been close to 130 years since journalist and civil rights pioneer, Ida B. Wells was forced to leave Memphis,TN for her work in bringing national attention to the lynching of her close friends in 1892. On May 27, 1892, white mobs destroyed her office where she founded one of the first Black-owned publications in the country. On July 16, 2021, members of the Memphis Memorial Committee unveiled a bronze statue of Ida B. Wells, the first life-sized statue of the civil rights activist in the United States.

The statue is located on the corner of Beale and Fourth Street, where her office was once located.

We offered our services to help secure local, regional and national media coverage of the statue unveiling, managing the press conference and working with planning committee members with ceremony logistics.

The State of Emergency Vote Tour engaged communities across the deep south and east coast to get out and vote in the 2020 Presidential Election. Until Freedom & Woke Vote are committed to engaging communities who have been often ignored by the political system. The stakes of the election cycle were extremely too high to not stand up and make sure these communities are informed, prepared and organized.

Phillips Media Agency was hired to secure media coverage throughout the vote tour and also managed Woke Vote’s social media platforms.
